DoBlu.com Upgrade

Donation protected

DoBlu.com began with passion for home media, and has grown via that same passion of our readership. Passion, however, does not pay for technology.

When the site launched in May, 2009, I put forth $2,600 of my own money to establish an equipment set-up capable of properly reviewing discs, all for a passion project I believed in. Over the course of time, and because of the nature of home electronics, that equipment has become obsolete. DoBlu's income, at this phase, covers growing bandwidth and not much else.

Despite offers to review 3D Blu-rays, the site does not have the back-end to handle those discs. Audio formats are expanding, and the aged components used to review Blu-rays with new sound formats are not up to speed. While other sites are able to move on via large scale readership in addition to large staffs, DoBlu is passed over as it experiences growing pains. The main set used to view the discs is showing signs of wear and tear as over 11,000 hours of use takes its toll. It's time to upgrade from aging LCD tech.

DoBlu could do a lot with a little. These funds help expand capabilities and increase accuracy, even with standard 2D discs. This is not something geared towards the 3D-minded exclusively. Donating towards new equipment means better reviews for all readers, and also assisting the community as a whole. DoBlu is a home for open conversation, discussion, and accuracy.

You're also supporting other efforts, such as a 3D gaming section on MultiplayerGames.com, DoBlu's sister gaming site. Coverage will grow, and the sites will stand out to make content easier to secure. Studios high on the concept of 3D will be eager to make content available, and interview opportunities can open. This means bigger, better content across multiple websites.

What if you break your goal and earn more?

Reviewing Blu-ray has caveats. Server space for high quality screen shots becomes tight. Hard drive space is limited to store thousands of high resolution .png images. Extra funds would help on the back-end immensely. Funds would also be used on advertising campaigns to expand readership, and some stowed away for future shipping costs associated with giveaways. With enough funds over the basic cost, we could look into professional redesigns that would make for better, easier navigation. The possibilities only grow with addition of more funds.

Reward Levels

Donations of $10 or more will add your name to a thank you list that will be posted on the site when we reach our goal. Donations of $100 will have a chance to see their own opinions of a retail Blu-ray on DoBlu's home page. Disc must approved prior to writing, and will be edited to fit the site's standards.

Donations hitting $200 will have a link to your own website on both DoBlu and MultiplayerGames for one year. The site must be appropriate, and not contain offensive material. Link is at our discretion.
