Dane’s Tennis Dream

For those who do not know me, my name is Dane Sweeny and my dream is to become a top 10 tennis player. I am 18 years old, and live with my parents on the Sunshine Coast QLD when I’m not travelling. The last few years I have been travelling all over the world playing junior events including Junior Roland Garros and Junior Wimbledon, gaining a career high junior ranking of #17 in the world. I have also played some domestic pro level tournaments gaining important ATP ranking points to kick off my professional career. Tennis has always been a massive part of my life, starting at the age of 2, but without the necessary financial support I will not be able to further continue chasing my dreams. I have been so lucky to have supportive parents who have financially supported me thus far, both working full time jobs, however as my tournament schedule becomes increasingly busy it will not be possible for them to afford my expenses. Australia is extremely isolated and unfortunately hosts barely any pro level tournaments. Therefore I hope to play a jam packed 2020 professional tournament schedule with much of my year based in Asia and other parts of the globe where I can play tournament after tournament. Travelling the world as a professional tennis player isn’t as luxurious as it seems towards the bottom of the rankings where I am positioned at the moment. Most players like me do not have sponsors to assist in travel expenses which makes it nearly impossible to pursue our dreams. Travelling incurs obvious costs such as flights, food, accomodation, racket re-strings, tournament entry fees and more. A full tournament schedule can cost anywhere between $40,000-$60,000 a year!! I have been hesitant to post a GoFundMe asking for donations but for me to follow my goals I need your support. $10,000 is my donation goal, and although it won’t cover my whole year, it will be a tremendous help to my tennis career. I would really appreciate any assistance I can get. Every dollar counts!!
