Help Edward Go To Columbia University
Hi everyone,
My name is Edward. I'm a hard working kid who was just accepted to Columbia University summer program for High School Students (http://ce.columbia.edu/high-school/nyc ). I will be spending 6 weeks taking an intensive seminar in Modern Chemistry and an Explorations in Genetics & Molecular Biology seminar. I hope these courses will be the foundation of my career in genetics and chemistry, which I plan to major in during college.
I would like to think my acceptance to such a prestigious program is an accomplishment of my own doing but I know in addition to my hard work this is the result of support I received from my parents, siblings, teachers, tutors and many other caring people in my life. I wanted to acknowledge and thank you for help and encouragement.
The program is a huge financial burden on my family, with the cost of tuition, room & board and other fees over $16,000, all this during my last year in high school. I've decided to try and help defray the cost while giving back. I've designed this site to accomplish this goal. For every $50 you donate to help fund my educational opportunity I will perform one hour of volunteer service to the charity or nonprofit (if possible) of your choice. With my a goal of $6000 that is 120 hours of service in addition to school, extracurricular activity and other charitable commitments.
(Smaller amounts will be combined for a total of 120 hours
of community service and if no organization is selected or I cannot volunteer
at the organization I will try find a similar organization or work with an
organization I already have a relationship with.) Feel free to contact me at [email redacted] with your volunteer request.
