Hello All ! First off, thank you for taking time out of your day to take a peak into what i am doing. My name is Kelsi Pickens and i am 22 years old. I will be graduating this May (2013) with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. At UAB, i have been very active in many organizations such as the Leadership and Service Council, Black Student Awareness Committee Executive Board, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. as well as a Ronald E. McNair Scholar.
I have always had a heart for helping others and sharing the love of God. No matter how far i have strayed away from the Lord or any low point in my life, i have always had a love for God that kept me coming back. Growing up, my childhood was not easy to say the least. I was raised by a single mother and come from a very broken home. My father was not around and didn't help my mother out and when there were step fathers- there was abuse. Even through the craziness i saw as a child and the rush to grow up at a very young age- in the midst of it all i was introduced to The Lord. At the age of 14, i accepted the Lord into my heart and from there on He showed me a love i had never experienced. God had come into my life and loved me in the midst of all the pain and strife my life had caused. Up until high school and early on in high school God really was transparent in my life. But even though God had been so good to me, i still searched for something i felt i could tangibly hold. In the 11th grade i began dating, and the Love i had for the Lord, i quickly replaced with a love for a man. I began to indulge in a life of partying, fornication, and just...... well emptiness. I continued this lifestyle until college. I knew how real and how amazing the Lord had been when i was younger, i remembered His love but i could never give up the things that "Kelsi" desired. 2012 was just a rough year to say the least but i am so thankful for it. God showed and proved himself to be so faithful, as soon as i became obedient. Once i truly said yes to the Father, He MOVED. He completely wrecked my world in such an amazing way. I have found a love even better than what i remembered from before. God has truly swept me off my feet.
This is where YOU come in. I created this page to raise money to go to the International House of Prayer University ( Visit www.ihopkc.org for more info* ). I recently visited IHOP in December for a conference (ONEthing) and the conference changed my life. I went expecting God to do amazing things. I opened my heart, mind and spirit to completely hear what the Lord was wanting to tell me. And He put IHOPU on my heart. I feel as though IHOPU is the next step of my life once i graduate. It sounds crazy because i will have a COLLEGE DEGREE... but hey, i wont argue with the Lord. God has placed such a huge calling on my life and for once in 22 years, I am answering it. I have fully submitted my life to whatever the LORD wants me to do. My goal is to raise $6000 in 7 months (by August), which will cover my first years tuition for the school. At IHOPU i will be attending their School of Ministry where i will be equipped with all the knowledge i need to continue my Call into Full-Time Ministry. This school is very different from other schools because they are centralized around their 24/7 prayer room.This intimate time in the prayer room and lifestyle of an Intercessory Missionary is exactly what i feel the Lord is calling me to do for this next season of my life. I believe i will be a World Changer. My heart is to see the Lost saved and to go out and preach the gospel and SHOW the love of God to all who are lost. Please help where you can, no gift is too small! You are sowing into the Kingdom of God by helping me get to IHOPU. I pray blessings over all of you!
