My name is Laurie & to get to the point before I dive deep into my situation - this GoFundMe serves a very particular purpose that is close to my heart. I am in the process of raising funds in order to purchase my own rv/travel trailer/manufactured home (whichever I come across first that is most financially sound and secure). Here is my story ❤️
Mental and physical health struggles have plagued me heavily in recent years. My heart is calling to leave inner city living and become more immersed in nature, with more privacy. I have not been the same since my Grandmother's passing in 2016. I have always tried my whole life to be the best I could. My job, income, and children were always at the forefront taking the utmost precedence over everything else. I never actually took time for myself that didn’t involve one of those things.
Fast forward to a few years later, I have endured an abusive relationship, developed fibromyalgia, as well as crippling anxiety and depression just to name a few. I have not been able to keep a job for much longer than a few months due to the above ailments and conditions. I am in the process of applying for disability. As many of you know you must be unemployed for a minimum of 12 months before disability can be granted to you so that has been a struggle as well.
I have discovered that I need to look within and heal myself, I have been hoisted head first into a spiritual awakening. Things have never been more crystal clear for me! While going through this awakening one of the most crucial elements that have come to the forefront of my life is healing myself so that I can also heal any wounds regarding my children. My 12 year old son and I are both in counseling at this time to further our healing and growth in such trying times.
My son, older daughter, and I live with my mother at this time due to financial burdens, but we are ever so eager to get a place of our own! It can be tough sharing an unfinished basement space with your child but we've made due with our situation & have been grateful nonetheless. My kids don't feel safe living where we live anymore. The crime rate has increased drastically. We need our independence more than ever before! I have done the absolute best I can to hold us all together through this past year, and trust me when I say it has been some of the hardest times to endure. We can not stand living in Portland anymore. There have been shootings within a few blocks of our house recently. I do not want to leave Oregon, I love Oregon! However, we need to be in nature and just the simple task of feeling safe and secure going to the store! My children do not feel safe in our own neighborhood anymore.
I have been looking at homes for under 100k! If anyone would be willing to help us out please, I also have venmo and cash app. I am trying to get a manufactured home out of the city, an hour away would be great! I once had great credit, a new car, and extra money all the time. But it all caught up with me. This was not easy for me to do, so if you made it this far, thank you for caring enough to stay with me this far. ❤️
