Help Mel Beat Breast Cancer
On 27 August 2019, our best friend Mel was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Mel has HER2 positive invasive ductal cancer, and is about to start 20 weeks of intense chemotherapy (8 weeks of doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide, followed by 12 weeks of paclitaxel). Mel has also been advised that once chemotherapy is over, she will need to have a mastectomy, followed by 5 weeks of radiation.
Mel is only 27 years old. She is an amazing wife to William, and loving mother to three small children – 9 year old, Tahlia; 5 year old, Bycen; and 3 year old, Isabelle. Mel is a hard worker and enjoys her job, however, due to the circumstances surrounding her health, it is going to be incredibly difficult for her to continue to work full time over the next few months while undergoing chemotherapy, surgery and receiving radiation treatment. She is unfortunately having to rely on her savings to keep up with the medical bills and everyday expenses while she is unable to work.
If you know Mel, you would know that she is the most kind, loving, and supportive person in the world. She is a beautiful friend, who would drop anything in an instant to help you in a time of need. And yet, she would never ask for your help in return. She is very independent and strong and courageous, and we admire her for it. But we don’t think anyone should have to worry about financial stress while battling cancer. Her focus should be on getting better and looking after herself.
So we have set up this GoFundMe on her behalf, in the hope that some of you may be willing to assist. If you could share even a tiny amount, it would be so appreciated and mean so much to us. We really want to help Mel and her family get through this challenging time.
