Sid’s Twilight

Our baby dog is ill. His heart condition and the severity of it are yet to be fully determined. The current diagnosis is congestive heart failure. He could suffer a fatal cardiac event at any time. He has cloudy fluid in his lungs and around his heart, but medication will help him move some of that. Current vet bill sits at $300, but we return next week. The medication—$50/month, and regular vet visits—$50-$100 each time, and x-rays as necessary—$85 each are costs for which we were wholly unprepared. He will also need special senior dog food—an increase of $30 monthly to our cost, and other supplements. We are just trying to give him the best life possible while he’s still living it. If his heart does fail abruptly the cost of cremation, the urn, and other affiliated expenses add up very quickly as well—close to $500. We have just tried to buy ourselves 6 months of safety, and/or coverage for the potential expenses postmortem. Preparations are being made mentally and physically for the inevitable, so any help is so dearly appreciated. We are creating a journal of stories, drawings of him, and pictures. So, send those our way as well. This is so hard. He’s my best friend, and the foundation of our little blended family. Thank you in advance for the love and support.
