The Bahamas Hurricane Dorian Emergency Support

Donation protected
Hello Everyone. As you all know Hurricane Dorian has caused extreme destruction to the island of Abaco, Bahamas. Strom surges rose 12 to 18 feet above normal tide levels which resulted in the island being under large amounts of water and I am seeking your help with assisting the people of Dundas Town Abaco.

Many of you know that I moved to Illinois with my sister in 2009 and since then it has been only her and I. We both attended school in Illinois and work to provide for our family back home.

My sister and I recently planned to travel to the Bahamas this week, however, Hurricane Dorian canceled our plans. We were traveling to the Bahamas for the funeral of my father who passed on August 21st, 2019. His funeral was scheduled for September 7th, 2019, but that will not happen as we do not know where his body may be due to the storm.

At this time, we no longer have a home due to hurricane Dorian and will need to rebuild. It is hard being away from my family and not being able to hear from my mom. One day you’re planning to lay your father to rest and the next we are crying because we have lost everything. My sister and I would love to return, home but have no home to return to. This is why we sincerely need financial help.

I know there are many GoFundMe accounts asking for help for the Bahamas, but may not be authentic.  I am a true Bahamian needing help! If you are not able to help with money, you can help in other ways.

As a general rule, non-perishable (canned or dried) food is welcome. Also, include a hand-operated can opener or two with your donation. Personal-care items (soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, combs, hairbrushes, shampoo, feminine care products, etc.) are also useful. NEW underwear and socks (in the original packaging), and cleaning supplies are always needed, as are baby products. Bedding, towels and washcloths, kitchen items (new dishes, pots, and pans, coffee makers, paring knives, etc) are always welcomed by those who have lost everything.  Items can be mailed to
