Hello,
My name is Prinshauna Potts and I am a rising sophomore at Spelman College, majoring in English with a minor in Political Science. For some time now, I have been experiencing difficulties with finding the funds to return back to Spelman. My mother has already exhausted her funds trying to keep me at Spelman and the last thing I want to do is cause her to be become more in debt because she is a single parent. However, she made a way along with many sacrifices because she didn’t get the chance to attend college. During my time at Spelman, I’ve learned more about myself than I could have ever imagined, I’ve become more socially and politically aware and have been surrounded by amazing peers who brought me out of my shell and taught me how value life in many different aspects. Nonetheless, I now feel as if I can accomplish anything I put my mind to because Spelman is such an educating, empowering, and nurturing environment that I would hate to leave behind. I want to continue my education at Spelman because it’s means everything to me. Given that I am a first generation college student, I want to be the change in my family and be able to say “I made it.” Any amount is truly appreciated, I’m grateful to have made it this far, and would like to continue my journey at Spelman College.
