The Village Bakery

Donation protected
The purpose of everything that has been on my entire journey in this life and what I’m suppose to do with it. All the lessons learned has come to this. The village Bakery. It is our goal that The village bakery is a place that trains and hires people with special needs as well as neuro-typical individuals in support rolls for our special needs staff and to help run the bakery. We will have a dessert special of the week where one of our staff gets the honor and recognition that they baked this dessert for you with love. We will teach classes for special needs as well as neuro-typical individuals. We will be a bakery/ coffee shop that is family friendly which will also have a quiet space for those who need extra emotional support. Our story: As a parent with kids with special needs all we could see was how big business operates in the real world of move fast do it right. We didn’t see how anyone would take the time to give our child a chance. I have many accomplishments under my belt in the last 15 years in this field. Not long after learning some basics in this field I started teaching others. It was a huge joy in my life. I was frequently told I have the patience of a saint. That I was the best teacher they ever had. I work with people where they are. Modify techniques for people with deficiencies to help them be more successful in this field. It’s my job to show them they can, to breathe and not to stress about mistakes because in the end... it’s just cake.... My dream has always been to have a shop of my own. It was about 5 months ago, I was given the missing piece of my life’s puzzle. We will be a resource in the community giving skills from the front of the house by taking orders, making beverages, serving and cleaning tables to register skills. We will have positions in the back of the house for baking, packaging and dishes. We will find where each person thrives and build on their strengths. We will find areas that need further assistance and support them in their growth. We will teach classes in our bakery. I was asked recently why people would go to this bakery vs any other bakery in town. I will ask you the same thing I asked in return. Who would you rather support with your pastry needs for your next meeting? Where would you rather buy your loved ones birthday cake?I can guarantee you that if given the choice I will support a bakery or any business making a difference in our community any day of the week. All of us would buy the brownie or the lemonade from the child at the garage sale just to see them smile. All of us want to help others feel valued as they reach their goals. Big things like the young man in our community who raised money selling lemonade to buy a therapy dog.Or a dream to the young woman with a physical disability who longs to be a pastry chef but feared her limitations. Who now knows she can accomplish her dreams. She has started her plans for her own bakery. That’s why this works and will continue to prosper. Because it takes a village.
