International whippet/sighthound rescue
Donation protected
“Whippey” was rescued in Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq February 2019. She apparently had been abandoned during the ongoing political upheaval and was running loose in the streets of Erbil. She was at risk of being shot when a US expat rescued her and took her into protective custody. He contacted a veterinarian friend of his in Wyoming who had 2 Whippets and asked if he would accept another into his family. The plan was to bring Whippy to the US on his next voyage home but the voyage was aborted at the last minute as the flight the US expat was taking back to the US happened to not have a temperature controlled cargo hold. He had to leave Whippy behind and forfeit the $500.00 he had spent acquiring the necessary vaccinations & documents to qualify for entry into the US. He made temporary arrangements to board Whippy in Erbil while he tried to arrange transport unaccompanied as air freight. Time is limited as he was only able to arrange boarding for a 2 month period. All the paperwork has to be redone as well as microchip implant and revaccination for rabies as well as new health certificate. The cost of air freight to the US is going to be between $2000-$3000 .
