Three Yorkshire Peaks Challenge

So I am on the fundraising path again! In these uncertain and restrictive times, charities are struggling to fundraise so I thought I would do my bit to help. For those of you who are not aware, my Mum past away in February 2019 of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.  I cannot express what a shock this was and how quickly this condition progressed and took her life.  She took poorly at Christmas 2017, feeling generally unwell with no energy and shortness of breath. As the weeks progressed we noticed that she continued to suffer with her breathing and her GP began treating her for a chest infection. This continued for a number of months until the decision was finally made to refer her to the hospital (unfortunately after having to push for this!). In June 2018 she was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis which neither of us had heard of before. As you do, I did a google search and found that it is a condition that scars the lungs. As the condition progresses the lungs get stiffer and smaller, eventually leading to low oxygen levels in the blood. The term Idiopathic is a medical term for the cause being unknown. The condition cannot be treated and is often diagnosed late which means that the life expectancy after diagnosis is often very short.   My Mum was such a vibrant character with a real zest for life. She was always so positive and she really appreciated the little things in life such as reading a book in the park, seeing her solar lights glow at night and a glass of gin and tonic at the end of the day. She was very active and up until 2017, she was very fit and in great shape, only taking medication for her asthma/COPD. Following her diagnosis, my Mum's health deteriorated dramatically. She was hooked up to an oxygen unit 24 hours a day and she found it harder and harder to breath. She was told at the end of 2018 that she would have at least 12 months to live and within months she had passed. The Pulmonary Fibrosis Trust supported me and my Mum when we needed it, practically and emotionally. As well as offering help to sufferers and their families they also raise awareness of the condition and I want to do the same! Last year, I set my mind to fundraising for this charity as they are only small and do such a fabulous job. As recognition of my efforts I was appointed as an Ambassador and I feel so honored to support them in their cause.  So I am now taking on the challenge of climbing the 3 Yorkshire Peaks on 6 June 2020 with my fabulous friend, Maria. Although it generally takes around 12 hours, we are looking to smash that time out of the water!  I would love it if you would support and encourage us in this challenge and donate a little something . . . maybe the money you saved on coffees this week?! Thank you sooooo much. Wish us luck! xxx
