Remembering Ken Sellon & Eugene Schlotfeldt

Donation protected
On November 14, 1968 my life changed forever when we got the news my grandpa, Ken Sellon P.E., along with his assistant, were killed by a semi driver in an accident along I-94.  Grandpa was the civil engineer in charge of the interstate’s construction from Sauk Centre to Alexandria and had chosen that day to do a site inspection.  Some of the newspaper articles from the day are included here for reference.  We have had over 50 years to get used to his loss and yet, some days it seems like we just got the news.  So many from The MN Department of Transportation who knew him are gone now but a few remain and it is with their assistance and support this dream to find a way to honor both men is now a reality.  Of course, nothing is free and so it is with the signs the State will be installing in both directions along I-94.  The cost for the two signs is $2745 with an additional amount of $755 (bringing the total to $3500) to cover processing fees and on-going costs to maintain them.   We ask your assistance in any amount you can make available to help us reach our goal.  An update on the dedication ceremony date will be announced once the funds are secured. Many thanks!
