Deer Enclosure Expansion
At Wild &Cared Free Wildlife Rehabilitation we are one of the few wildlife rehabilitation groups permitted to rehabilitate injured or orphaned baby deer in the province of Saskatchewan. We usually take in 3 to 5 fawns each year, but have seen an increase this year, and have taken in 9 babies with a 10th on it's way. Not all these babies survive, but we are looking at needing to house around 7 young deer this coming year. Our current enclosure is 6,400 square feet (80x80), and our baby shed is around 60 square feet. We need to give these babies as much room as possible to allow them to grow up in natural cover and have native vegetation to browse on without overcrowding. To ensure we can meet their needs, we would like to expand the pen to 16,000 square feet (200x80) and double the size of the fawn shed. Any additional funds would be put towards feeding the deer until May 2020 when they are released back into the wild.
