Kipper's Surgery

Kipper is one of my family's adoring little fur-kids. He is part Maine-coon, and about four-and-a-half years old. We had originally taken him in as a foster kitten when he was only a few months old. We inevitably fell in love with him and adopted! Kipper has recently suffered an unfortunate accident which has damaged both of his hind legs. One of them is stitched up and will heal over time, but the other is badly broken. Our original advice was: "Even with a reconstructive surgery that could cost up to $4,000, it is unlikely that this leg would be functional, which means it would only get in the way of his mobility. So we have been advised by the professionals that our best option is to amputate this leg, which is still an expensive surgery."

UPDATE 12/12/12: We have been in contact with another surgeon who says he can save Kipper's leg - Kipper would have 90-95% functionality of this leg post-surgery. This surgery would be only a little more expensive than an amputation, so we are increasing our goal to $1500 to compensate for the extra costs!
