Please Help Get My Car Back

On May 16th, a driver hit me from behind while texting. He did not have insurance and my car was crunched between two cars and completely undrivable. I have had to pay out of pocket for my healthcare and my car rental and am completely broke. My car is now repaired and I will have to pay out of pocket, $2500 to get my vehicle back. I can’t even afford all of my medication at this point, I have no way to afford this at all. Insurance decided I am not at fault in this accident in any way and will be going after the driver for compensation, but I’m being told that could take years. Due to his not having car insurance, they cannot recover the funds needed for my repair nor can they be waived. I have to pay $2500 if I want my car back. I lost a week of work due to my injuries and I am completely wiped out in the bank. Any help I can get is greatly appreciated.
