Let's all come together to help mom
So many of you know our mother, many of you had your children babysat by our mother, and many of those children are now adults and still have contact with her. Those of you who don't know our mother with a heavy heart let me tell you about her:
Her name is Marsha McEvoy and she is only 60 years old. She is at UMC hospital right now Doctors have just diagnosed her with stage 4 lung Cancer that has spread to her brain and other organs. The thought of her not being around is almost unbearable this woman is the glue to this family.
Our mother not only raised 4 daughters on her own for quite some time she has helped hundreds of other children that she babysat for over 15 years in her home. She charged a dollar an hour and never raised her price once because she did not want to put a hardship on any of the parents who she adored and truly became friends with most of them. Not only did she learn sign language to take care of a little boy who was deaf(Paul), she also took on another little boy (Quinton) who was paralyzed from the waist down from spinal bifida, She practically raised another little girl Jessie who's mom just left her at our house for months and months at a time she just became our 5th sister. One Christmas Jessie's mom was supposed to pick her up on Christmas Eve, she never showed so my parents went wherever they could to get her gifts from Santa so she would have them under the tree Christmas morning when we got up. My mother did not call CPS she took care of her.
She eventually remarried and (peter) papaw embraced it all, us 5 girls all of the other countless children that were always around day and night, and eventually 11 grandchildren (whom she also took care off all of them so we could work). She taught us to be strong, loving and compassionate she is the least judgmental person no matter what the situation is. Our Mother always made Christmas a big deal and special EVERY YEAR. The past couple has been tough for her papaw was laid off work and this past couple months the unemployment ran out, they continue to scrape by on his Social Security some months not having one dollar left. They have no medical insurance or life insurance. They have both been looking for jobs but nobody will hire them at their ages.
We want to make this Christmas as special for her as she has for all of us all these years. We want her to understand how important she was to us and countless children that passed thru our home. She took care of 100's of kids throughout those years we want her to understand what an impact she had in their lives and ours. This could very well be her last Christmas, she should not have to be worry about what she can or cannot pay, this woman has sacrificed so much she has touched so many children's lives and selfishly gone without her entire life. My goal is to raise 15,000.00 OR MORE (hopefully) by Christmas . We would love to be able to hand her a check on Christmas day and be able to take some of this bourdon off of her and Peter we want her to enjoy whatever time she has left. Thank you in advance.
