Ryder James

Ryder James, baby son of Desiree Teubert and Kyle Geisler, was born April 9, 2019 at 4:13am at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital via c-section 3 weeks early. He weighs 5 lb 13 oz. Ryder has a life threatening condition called multicystic kidney disease. When Desi was 19 weeks along, it as discovered on ultrasound that Ryder's kidneys were not functioning because of the cysts. As a result, no amniotic fluid was being made and his lungs were not able to develop properly. Even though his heart had been very strong throughout the pregnancy, Desi and Kyle were told that Ryder had only a 1% chance of survival and would possibly have many physical birth defects. He was taken to the NICU immediately after delivery and continues to be on life support with a ventilator and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), a treatment that uses a pump to circulate blood through an artificial system which provides heart-lung bypass support outside of the baby's body. Additionally, he has multiple chest tubes and many other lines to support his life. His family is grateful for all the heroic measures keeping him alive. Ryder became a child of God through baptism shortly after birth. He is a beautiful baby with chubby cheeks like his mamma and big hands like his daddy. Desi is doing well, still recovering in the hospital and Kyle remains by her side. They have a long road ahead and are thankful to be able to visit Ryder frequently throughout the day.  Please, keep them in all in your prayers.
