Support the Desert Song Evolution!

 

We have just taken the biggest step in our history.  In early 2013, Desert Song will be moving out of our current space on 7^th Street over to a building we purchased at 3232 N. 20^th Street.  For 3 decades, we've rented studio space surrounded with asphalt, buildings and traffic.  While we have been able to create a refuge, we also wanted to find our own space "“ one that we could devote our energy and time into creating something that would last.

 

My husband, Vince, and I took out a loan and invested our savings so that we could breathe new life into this building and make it our new Desert Song home. Through personal loans we have enough capital for the building, the acre of land it resides on and for most of the build-out. Last month Vince fell off of a 12-foot ladder while working on the new space and injured his right shoulder and opposite wrist, rendering him unable to finish the carpentry work, which would have saved us a significant amount of money. 

 

Your contribution will go towards:

·      Hiring of tradesmen to complete the finishing work

·      Lighting and fan fixtures

·      Additional flooring

·      Cabinetry and build-ins

·      Air conditioning unit

·      Outside signage

·      ADA bathroom and parking requirements

·      Indoor/outdoor painting

 

In addition to the building, we were planning a beautiful community

yoga and meditation garden, which will include:

·      Landscaping, trees, sprinkler system  

·      A small covered pavilion

·      Raised garden planters

·      Bike rack and benches

 

Throughout our history, each time we transitioned to a new space our community was there to assist.  Now, we have another opportunity for you the community to get involved.  For us, this has been a huge leap of faith. This property felt right the minute we stepped on the land. It has so much potential and, with your help, together we can realize this dream.

 

The dream for our center is a tranquil urban garden setting.

·      Spacious yoga rooms

·      A meditation garden

·      Massage and yoga therapy space

·      Outside yoga and community space

·      Herb and vegetable community garden

·      A place to hold community festivals and events, drawing people into the city center and revitalizing the neighborhood
