Julia's Fight!! - Fighting for more time!

Donation protected
In June, our mother, Julia Cano, 58, was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in South Carolina, while visiting my sister. Mom had no insurance and we knew it was going to be difficult to get help but the doctors recommended surgically removing the tumor to avoid her from getting sicker. The procedure was very complex and it took mom about 4 weeks to recover. During that time, we were having a difficult time getting Medicaid to pay the bills and to approve mom's chemo treatments. According to them because they caught it early enough and she was only stage 2 cancer, the process would take approximately 6 months to review! SIX MONTHS! Every day we fought, argued, and cried to them, pleading to help us and finally after 3 months we got good news. Everything was approved unfortunately, a little too late.

When the oncologist did blood work she noticed some irregularities and had mom over go a PET scan to conclude her suspicion. Last week, we got the news that mom's cancer had spread to her liver. The oncologist said, "Her disease is progressing and her prognosis is very poor and guarded. She has end stage disease, I am so sorry."

Even after he diagnosis however, she didn't back down. She wants to fight this! She is positive that we can surpass this!

Before her diagnosis, our mother was a Healthcare Aide. She has helped so many people throughout her life, from children, adolescents, to the elderly. She has met many long-time friends through her line of work. She never forgets about her patients, she would constantly give them a call or swing by their house to make sure they are ok. She has taken in friends that had no place to sleep and fed them without expecting anything in return. She is the most selfless person you will ever meet. This is why it is so important for us to give her more time in this world. This world full of hate and selfish people could use a bit of her spread around, even if for only 5 more years. It is more than having 6 months!

We are asking you to help us raise money to cover any personal and medical bills, and any medications that mom's insurance will not cover. Any help is help enough!

Sincerely Grateful,

Rosario Tantalean, Sonia Cano, Alicia Tantalean, Zahi Cano, and Jason Cano, Oscar Cano, Jr., Ralphie Cano, Oscar Cano Sr., Karla Tantalean, and Jorge Luis Tantalean,
