Healing and Happiness for Heather

Donation protected
If you are lucky enough to know Heather, your life is a little bit brighter. If you are lucky enough to be loved and cared for by Heather, your life is absolutely illuminated. She is by far the most charasmatic, loving, kindest soul I have ever encountered. I am certain that we can all tell countless stories of her incredible generosity and selflessness when it comes to those she loves. I'd like to share a story of her giving those things to complete strangers in need.

Heather has been battling Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans for the past 4.8 years. I have been blessed to be one of the medical team that provides treatment to her. We met on her first visit and she has become one of my closest friends. I have watched her throughout treatment. The fear, pain and illness. That isn't what I want to point out, though. I want to point out her spirit. This woman leads our office and other patients in motivation, humor, prayer and faith. She speaks to every single patient that wants to speak to her no matter how awful she is feeling. I have watched her give up her chair and blanket for someone she felt deserved it more as she sat on the hard floor (bones aching tremendously). She has brought little gifts for everyone to cheer them up. She remembers other patients' birthdays. She is an angel. We adore her. This is why it hurts me so much to see her hurting and in such need. She always has a smile on her face but anyone that knows her knows to just look at the eyes. They tell the real story.

Here is the real story behind those eyes. She is not only physically in pain and extremely ill, she has the weight of the world on her shoulders. She is currently in a 12 week treatment cycle. This 12 weeks will cost over $35,000 in medical expenses alone. With no complications. This $35,000 is not including Heather's living expenses or the cost to take care of her daughter. As most of you know, she is a mother that is beyond compare to her beautiful daughter, Siren. Siren has autism and there are many expenses and circumstances that go along with that aspect of Heather's life as well.

I am certain that if you are her friend, you have at least one if not more instances of when she was there for you. Without you having to ask. Exactly what you needed. Just your friend. Plain and simple. That is how simple this is. It is now time for us to show her that we will do the very same thing. We will not only say she has out support but we will show it. Whether you can give $1.00 or $1000.00, please give what you can. Don't let this pass by without showing her that you see how incredibly special she is. We all know that she is priceless but we can do our very best to give back.

I am certain she has missed sleep, money, meals, time for all of you that she cares for. I am confident when I say I am sure we can do without coffee, dinner out, movie night, for someone this worthwhile. For those she hasn't had the pleasure of meeting, trust me when I say she would do the same for you. Just last week she was worrying as she was getting treatment about getting her Christmas bags for the homeless put together if she still isn't feeling well. This is a person who thinks of others at the very time She should be focused on herself. Please don't let her down. I don't plan to. We are counting on everyone to rally around our friend when she needs us the most. This is it. The time to show her our thanks for all that she is.
