I am a 55 year old female with a 30 year history of dealing with 4 primary cancers throughout that timeframe. At the age of 25 I was first diagnosed with breast cancer. I was treated and cured. Unfortunately it came back 14 years later, on the other side. So I had a bilateral mastectomy and chemotherapy at that time. Due to the fact that my cancers were caught early, I was cured once again. Thank God! For the last 2 years, beginning September 2010, I was diagnosed and treated for rectal cancer, which has also been cured. Praise and thanks be to God!
As of May 2011, I was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer and this is battle that I am fighting currently. I am being told by mainstream doctors, whom I truly thank God for, that there is no cure and I am on the last chemo available. Im also being told that once my body builds up an immunity to this chemo there's not very many options left. At that point I can choose to give up and just take pain meds until my cancer slowly consumes me. Well as you can see I am a FIGHTER. With God's grace and mercy, I've come a long way.
My reason for asking for donations is I don't want to give up. I have also done some research, trying to become more familiar with my cancer and I have discovered another form of treatment that has been proven to cure my type of cancer. I went to a clinic in California that provides this treatment, but my HMO insurance plan denied me 6 times in less than 2 weeks. My health was deteriorating and I couldn't afford to pay out of pocket for the 3 months of treatment plus housing, so I had to come back to Texas March 2012, to start the last chemo available. The treatment in California was not chemo and had low to no side effects. So I found a clinic in Houston and again I couldn't get help from my insurance because it's not mainstream or in their network. I feel that when you are going through a serious illness, denial of treatment should not be an option. It is not under investigation and it is curing people. I can't afford this costly treatment, but I want a chance to do something other than sit around and wait for tumors to take over my body. Right now I'm feeling good, things are under control for the most part.
I believe everyday God wakes me up and I'm supposed to FIGHT, otherwise he could just take me. So I am reaching out to you to assist me in achieving my goal of $100,000.00. Cancer treatment is very costly and I would have to stay in Houston which is about 5 hours away from my home in Dallas and that would be too much on me physically as well as financially. I am in need of financial assistance. I'm not exactly sure how long I would need to stay there but initially I would do a consult with testing the first week. I will be grateful for whatever is given, every little bit helps. I could keep fighting with my insurance but I'm afraid of my condition getting out of hand and then no treatment would help. I maybe had my last chemo treatment on 08/30/2012. Even then the doctor was reluctant to give it to me because for the last 2 months my cancer levels have gone up slightly, which is telling him that the chemo is breaking down. Since I'm not ready to give up, I told him to do the chemo. So I have this month, then if possible I'll need to go to Houston. I will be forever GRATEFUL for your assistance.
