100km Ultra Challenge for CALM

In this country each week, 125 people take their own lives.

That's 6500 a year.

Of them, 75% are male. 

Indeed, suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50 in the UK.

On 26th June 2021, three of us - Molly Russell, Ed Tarlton & Ben Duffy will undertake the Cotswold Way Ultra Challenge to raise money for CALM , a charity that is leading a campaign against male suicide. 

An endurance walk - the route is 100km, which we will strive to complete in under 24 hours.

To do so, we will be walking continuously, day and night, until we cross the finish line. 

The difficulty of this task is reflected in the words of Sophie Jane, who undertook the Thames Path version of our challenge in 2016: 

"However difficult you think walking 100km would be, it was harder...I mean, it’s just walking, right? WRONG.

"When you’re covering a distance of 100km and are up on your feet for twenty something hours non-stop...it becomes an absolutely epic endurance challenge. 

"It was by far the hardest thing I have ever done...it used up every last ounce of determination, positivity, and self-belief I had in me, and left me physically and mentally completely exhausted."

Naturally, this is not an endeavour we are taking lightly.

We are training regularly and will fund all equipment, travel and expenses ourselves.

However, whilst we are determined to give all we can to ensure we complete the route, we need your help to raise money for the amazing cause we are doing this for.
