1000KM Challenge

Hello and Thank you for visiting our Go Fund me page!
We are group of leisure cyclists (the majority going through a mid life crisis) that have decided to get together to try to raise much needed funds for three very deserving causes. As you can appreciate, fund raising is very challenging for any cause in these unprecedented times and we, with your help and support, want to do our bit.
We want to invite you to join us on Sunday the 14th of June 2020 to take part in some exercise (walk, run or cycle) to help us reach a combined total distance of 1000km! Whether you want to take part and/or to donate, every kilometre and cent counts!
We encourage everyone who takes part to adhere to the government guidelines on social distancing etc. and hopefully we will be in Phase 2, with a 20km kilometre radius by then.
Two of the causes we have chosen are Pieta House and the Irish Cancer Society. These causes are well known to the majority of you, and will not need much introduction, as unfortunately, very few of us have not been affected in some way by cancer or mental health illnesses. The 3rd charity we have chosen, Rory's Wish To Walk, may not be so familiar to you.
Rory is an amazing seven year old boy from County Galway, who has cerebral palsy quadriplegia and his wish is to WALK!!
His parents, family & friends are trying to make his wish to come true.
Rory is currently busy working very hard everyday to get strong enough for double hip surgeries.
He is currently using a walking frame his Mum purchased on eBay a few years ago, but, he has outgrown this frame. Now, Rory needs to get a new Grillo walking frame to help him to progress and to make his wish to walk come true. This new walking frame will be customised for Rory and will be a massive addition to Rory's rehabilitation. He will use it daily, both before and after his surgeries.
To watch this young boy's determination as he overcomes the challenges that life has thrown at him is simply awe-inspiring. I will never be able to do justice to Rory and his personality on here, but to say I think he is an amazing individual, with incredible drive and resoluteness is barely scratching the surface.
