Lily’s Tumor Removal

Donation protected
Hi friends! My name is Lily and I’m a 7 year old dachshund-pinscher mix! My mamas say that I am one of the cutest pupparinos in the world, but I think they might be biased.

Before they adopted me in December 2020, I had a pretty ruff life. I had just delivered a litter of puppies and the rescuers and mamas think that I could have been used as a breeding dog, and was likely abused — but I choose to block out that part of my life. Why focus on the past when I’ve got a family that loves me so much now?

As I was healing from delivering my last litter, my rescuers noticed that a little lump had developed underneath my back right leg. By the time mamas adopted me, it hadn’t grown, so there was really no cause for alarm at the time. But, about six months into living with my furever family, they began to notice the lump was growing. I kept licking it and it started getting red and swollen, so mamas took me to the pup doctor. We got a biopsy and there was no cancer detected, so mamas were very happy! They were told to monitor it, and if it got much bigger, the doctor said I may have to get it surgically removed. Mamas were told that I should wear a cone for a few days to prevent being tempted to lick it more — I didn’t like that part too much!

Sadly, in the past seven months, it has gradually increased in size, and the last two months, in particular, have taken a toll on my little body. We went to another pup doctor for a second opinion, who formally characterized the lump as a tumor, and were told a surgery in that area would be highly invasive and could take a long time to heal. It’s all kinda scary, but I want to be able to run around with my seesters again!

Mamas have been doing their best to save up over the last month to get the procedure done, but the pandemic has taken a huge financial toll on our family. They both work so hard to be able to provide for me and my seesters, but I can see the toll all this additional stress is taking on them.

My mamas want this tumor gone as soon as possible, and so do I, so my surgery is scheduled for March 17th. The cost of the surgery about $900, and the recommended biopsy is an additional $300. Mamas will make all the sacrifices they need to in order to make this procedure happen on time, but I know they could really use all the help they can get with financing it. They are already so worried about me.

There will likely be frequent follow-ups and potential treatments to follow the procedure, but for now, we are hoping to raise the immediate $1,200. I know times are ruff in this world for lots of people right now, but even as little as $5 helps us tremendously in reaching our goal. If 240 people were to donate just $5, we would fully achieve it!

If you love pupparinos like me, and believe in the idea of paying it forward, please consider helping my family by donating and/or sharing this campaign — we would so greatly appreciate it.

Please stay healthy and well, everyone!

Love,

Lily <3
