My name is Lauren Gibbs. I am originally from Southern California but am currently living in Denver.

Sports have always been a big part of my life. I had the privilege of playing volleyball in college.  A few years after graduating I happened upon one of the best communities I have ever had the pleasure to be a part of, Crossfit. Quickly I fell into competing again.

While working out in the gym (Front Range Crossfit) a few months ago I was told about the opportunity to compete in a different sport, when my friend told me about a local Bobsled Combine. While I didn't know much about Bobsled, I knew it was a power sport...."A big girl sport" :)

NOW, I'm hooked! My combine scores earned me an invite to a weeklong camp at the Lake Placid Olympic Training Center (a dream come true). After a week of learning how to push the sled and sometimes learning how NOT to push the sled.... :)

I started to figure it out just in time for our Rookie Push Championships.

Check out the results of the rookie competition below:

What's Next?
I return to Lake Placid in October to compete once again but this time against rookies and veterans; the goal is to earn a spot the National Team in hopes that the next fours years will look like this...

So what's my point???
What I am discovering about Bobsled is that it is a unique sport of hardworking athletes that dedicate their lives for a competition that lasts less than a minute! It also happens to be an expensive sport. I’ve always loved a challenge and this is my ultimate challenge, but I need your help. I would greatly appreciate any and all support, even the non-monetary kind (words of encouragement are always appreciated). GO TEAM USA!!!!!

Thank you for stopping by!

Well hello there....

I hope this update finds you doing well...

I am finally back in the United States as my second International Competitive (World Cup) season has come to a close. The women's team had another successful season. I got to race with both Jamie Greubel- Poser and Elana Meyers-Taylor.

Jamie and I started off the season by winning both selection races. We continued with three third place finishes, ranked 2nd overall and defending our National Title in our most recent race.

Elana and I had not slid together in over a year, in our first race together we won my first World Cup Gold medal and then finished third at World Championships.

Currently, I am in LakePlacid for another couple of weeks. Even though the season is over, I am getting some much needed time on the push track and the bobsled track. This is my favorite time of the year because it is an opportunity to slide without pressure and work technique and positioning. (see video attached).

Once I leave here I will be home in LA for a month. If you are in the area I would love to see you. Then the plan is to spend the majority of the off season at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

I hope you know how much your support and worlds of encouragement means to me. It takes a village to raise an Olympian! :)

That is all for now!

Happy Holidays!!! I hope this update finds you doing well and spending time with family, friends and a ton of good food. The first part of the season is a wrap and I am happy to report that in the two races I competed in, my pilot Jamie Greubel-Poser and I finished on the podium. While I am happy with our results I was less pleased with my personal performance so I have increased my training and recovery to come back stronger and faster in the next part of the season. The season picks back up after the new year with a race in Lake Placid which will be the first stop in the North American part of our tour. Then off to Park City where I will meet up with a group of family and friends before we continue on to Whistler Canada. That track is considered to be the fastest track in the world and the location of the 2010 Winter Games. Then after a short break we are back to Europe to finish up the season. I know, what a life! :)

It has been a busy, nerve-racking but fun couple of weeks. I was paired with pilot Jamie Greubel-Poser for both team selection races and I am happy to say that we took 1st in both races. Today I was named to the World Cup Team for my second season. I am both honored and thankful to once again get the opportunity to represent Team USA on an international level in bobsled. I can not thank you all enough for your continued support as I navigate through this journey to the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Congratulations, what an accomplishment!! I've told all my friends that I know your father. I talked to him while he was in Korea. He and I were best friends during our high school days.

“It’s important to remember that we don’t have to agree on everything to get along, be civil to each other and enjoy each other’s company.” Lauren Gibbs (Thank you for being patriotic, honorable, and speaking with integrity. It was not lost on me. I am not on either side, just strongly supporting your statement and wish it was widespread commendation, not ridicule. A very sad sign of the times. Hope my little contribution can prove some were watching and inspired by your words. Thanks for being a good leader.

I love your philosophy and sharing your silver medal with Ivanka. You said it all: "we don't have to agree on everything to get along, be civil to each other and enjoy each others company." It's for America. We love you Lauren and thank you for representing the USA like a true champion.
