Summer 2015
During the summer of 2015 my friends and I created a project called the Eye Love You Summer Camp. This was a free, one week camp that helped children in the south side of Chicago express themselves through art, sports and dance. We educated these kids on the importance of financial literacy, food nutrition and self empowerment. With the help of our corporate sponsor BIC we were able to provide these kids with back to school supplies as well! All in all this week was extremely beneficial to our campers. They were able to use their creativity through a variety of mediums and learned how to survive in a food desert. Summer 2017
In the summer of 2017 we will be doing the summer camp again but bigger and better! This year the kids will have weekly field trips, guest speakers and catered meals. With the camp being 4 weeks long we are going to be able to go in depth with all of our educational seminars. Each week will have a different theme ranging from food nutrition, to multicultural history. At the end of the week there will be special days where students can tie dye, go to the pool, face paint among a plethora of other activities. This go around we will also be paying our counselors a living wage! We are hiring 15 teenagers from the community in an effort to postivitely impact South Shore's local economy. We will also be more involved with the parents of our campers. Everyday Friday after camp there will be family activities that include: cooking classes, bringing a banker in to help sign up families for bank accounts, gardening seminars and movie nights.
With a small donation you can help change the lives of 50 underprivilaged youth! Your donation is going to art supplies, healthy food, and amazing teachers. Your donation is ensuring the mental and physical health of Chicago's urban youth. Your donation will have everlasting facts on these families, workers, and people in the neighborhood. Seeing happy children walking around with EYE LOVE YOU shirts can only bring joy to the residents in the neighborhood. Who doesn't want to hear the laughter of kids being active and healthy. Hearing your child talk about the importance of eating correctly can make a parent want to change their eating habits. Your small donation can make a huge impact on the lives of many.
