Eye Surgery & no health insurance

Donation protected
The last week of April I was moving out of my condo to release myself from a financial burden and to finally live close to my family and new fiancé. In the process of the move I was hit in the eye by a bungee cord.

Within a few days I was rushed into eye surgery with a detached retina, which if not repaired, would cause the loss of sight in that eye. I was told the surgery went well and that I should be fully healed within 3 months. The injury was so severe that a silicone buckle was sewn onto my eye to keep the retina in place while it healed.

Unfortunately after 3 months, I still had eye pain. However, believing that all costs had been taken care of with the insurance I had from my previous employment, I felt comfortable to officially move to Indiana and take a new position. I am now working on a contract, with the hope and possibility that it can become a permanent position. The temp agency that placed me, said that I would have medical insurance within a couple of weeks of starting this new job, so I planned to wait that couple of weeks to go to the eye doctor until I had insurance. But the pain in my eye became intolerable, so I went to the eye doctor and he give me the news that I would have to have a second eye surgery to remove the buckle, as it is poking out and rubbing against my eye lid and socket.  He said that out of the thousands of surgeries he had done he had only needed to remove 4 buckles, and now I would make the fifth!

I called the temp agency to verify that the doctor was in network, and was shocked to find out that regardless of what type of surgery or how necessary the surgery is, they only pay a flat rate of $500. After talking to the billing department at the surgery center I found out that I am now being faced with a $7000 bill. I am distraught that  this accident has cost me 5 months of pain and will now cost me $7000. My surgery is booked for September 10, and I am reaching out to ask for financial help.

Unfortunately my mother and fiancé are not in a position to cover this surgery for me. I also need prayer that this will be the last eye surgery, that my vision will be restored, and the ongoing daily pain will stop.

It is very humbling for me to share about this publicly, but I am at a loss on what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much!
