GOING TO NXN NATIONALS

I am Ben Cardamone, the head Cross Country Coach for the Elmira Express Cross Country team. I have been coaching Cross Country and Track & Field in Elmira since 1985.
We have a young lady named Abbey Wheeler who has qualified to go to the NXN (Nike) Cross Country Championships. In our area Abbey is a once in a lifetime athlete. She is a 3 time qualifier for this meet. The only other athlete I remember qualifying for a National Cross Country Championship Meet was Merrick Jones back in 1984, so that tells you how special this is. Nike pays to send the athletes to Portland, Oregon but they do not pay for coaches or parents to go. The expense is made larger do to the last minute nature of bookings.
At this time we have paid for the trip, our goal is to offset the cost. Abbey's support staff will include myself, my assistant Andrew Brusso and Abbey's mom who has never been to this meet. The funds that are raise are going directly to airfare, hotels, car rental.
The meet itself is December 5th (next weekend) It would be awesome to have funds by the end of this week but I know thats not realistic, especially now with holidays upon us and people figuring out their budgets.
My goal would be to have anyone that wants to contribute do it by December 12th that way people have a chance to figure things out.
This is a chance I may never have again in my career Abbey is truly a once in a lifetime athlete and I would like to enjoy this adventure with the people that have helped her the most.
