Hello friends and family! I have been practicing yoga consistently for a few years now and was introduced to it by my beautiful mother as a child, and now that I am finding my way through this world as a post grad I am also finding the ways to share what I have learned. I graduated with a BA in Theatre so why am I interested in yoga? Within the last couple of years training in acting I have discovered the power of the physical body and how focus and breathe can mediate emotional opening, which is very important for an actor. I have been changed and I have found myself through physcial movement and yoga that my late teachers have taught me. I am very interested in teaching yoga to actors along with other movement tecniques like Viewpoints and coming up with my own techniques to focus on the chakras of the body where emotional characterisctics and explanations can be drawn from. For example, if an actor is working on a character who is completely broken hearted and depressed, the chakras we would focus on would be the 3rd and 4th chakras, the solar plexus and the heart, which would both be imbalanced and weak. A way to feel the weakness of the heart is through physical pressure on the chest like putting a yoga block on one's chest and feeling it cave in. A way to feel the weakness of the solar plexus is through sinking in the ribcage to feel one's inferiority. I will be learning more about chakra work during my yoga teacher training! I would love to share this knowledge and love of the physical body to my fellow actors to help others discover what I have discovered! And what I have dicovered is myself and love. That is all you need to make great art. Help me become a yoga teacher!
