Exeter Township Wrestling Room

Tax deductible
Exeter Mat Club is a non-profit parent booster club, organized to support the Exeter Wrestling teams, grades K-12.  We are attempting to raise funds to build a new wrestling room.  The money would go to construction of a wrestling room and locker room facilities in a new building or existing building on campus.

This season was Exeter Wrestling’s 50th year anniversary.  For a program started in 1967, we saw many firsts this season and our Elementary numbers are higher than ever.  The community and School District are very excited about wrestling in the township, and as a booster club, we want to keep improving by keeping the momentum going.

Speaking of momentum, the varsity team had never won a District Post-Season match, until 4 years ago, when the team went 3-2 in District Matches and qualified for the PIAA AAA Team Tournament for the first time in school history.  They continued that momentum for the each of the next 3 years, qualifying for the Team State Championships 4 years in a row, advancing a little further each year, to see themselves reach the State Quarterfinals this season.

In the first 46 years of the program, Exeter had 3 individual State Medalists.  In the last 4 years alone, Exeter has produced 7 individual State Medalists.

In 2017, Exeter got it's first State Champion, Austin DeSanto, who's 3 year goal was to win a state title by defeating previously unbeaten Spencer Lee.  He took down Lee with almost no time left on the clock to win a thrilling match 6-5.  Watch the match here.

Also, this year's team won the school's first District 3 Team Title, defeating Cedar Cliff in the finals by a score of 32-27.

Wrestling is a sport that teaches dedication, sacrifice, hard work, commitment, and most of all humility.  It is the ultimate sport of strength, agility, and athleticism pitting 2 individuals against each other in a 1-on-1 battle.  Our goal is to provide the athletes in our wrestling program an opportunity to continue to succeed and create new Firsts for our school district and Community.

The two current wrestling rooms we have are not big enough to practice in.  The varsity team has to roll out mats in an Auxiliary Gym when the space is available or they have to split their practice between the wrestling room and weight room.  The junior high team has to drill in groups of 3 instead of 2 just to have enough space to learn the moves.  Our elementary program is divided into those two rooms in separate buildings on a daily basis because there is not enough room.  In all cases, our wrestlers are separated from each other during practices and it hurts our team building and practices.  Despite the lack of a sufficiently sized practice room, you see how successful our wrestlers have been over the last few years.

It is now, that we must come together as a community to raise the funds needed to build a proper practice facility for our wrestling program which is developing great young athletes and men and adding such a positive light to our community.

Thank you in advance for ANY donation you can spare to help us reach our goal of $45,000!!  Go EAGLES!!
