Honoring our Beloved Teacher Alex
Alex Antohin came to IA in 2008, just after our doors opened. He came to a dream and brought his love, skills and willingness to learn. As IA grew, so did Alex. And as Alex grew, so did IA. He was creative, loving, strong, inspirational, supportive and connected. He was a great teacher.
On Thursday, October 15th, on his way to school, Alex was involved in a car accident on the freeway. The extent of his injuries were too great and on the morning of October 18th he passed away peacefully in the company of his family.
All funds are being raised through Innovations Academy and will be used to fund his funeral, burial and memorial as well as to help his family pay for their travel expenses from Ethiopia to be with him in his last moments.
We are all grateful for the time we had with Alex and thankful for your support to ease the difficulties facing those who love him.
To Friends and Family,
Thank you each and all of you for being with Alex and us, his family,
during this time of our great loss. For your caring thoughts, which
were such a comfort to us and for your generous gifts. We think Alex
would have been quite overwhelmed by all this attention but more so he
would have been overjoyed that he was so loved! On Sunday, we held his
40th day memorial where according to the Orthodox faith we believe he
has now joined his final resting place, with Our Lord and Savior Jesus
Today, during this Thanksgiving holiday we are grateful for our Alex.
We are thankful that he was able to share with us his remarkable
dynamic self, in all its bright rays and most of all his love, which
he extended beyond us, his family, to his students and all of you who
knew him. We wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving with our
Esther Antohin and family
