Everson's Stem Cell Therapy Fund

My name is Chloe and I am sweet Everson's mama. Everson is my oldest child. He is currently 5.5 years old. When Everson was 2.5 he was diagnosed with autism. In the last 3 years we have learned that Everson has a severe form of autism that leaves him nonverbal and he has very little independent functioning. He struggles with every normal task a 5 year old would typically be able to do. His developmental ages is no higher than 18 months in most areas. He has severe sensory needs and spends the majority of his day engaging in self injury or repetitive behaviors that inhibit him from being productive.

Everson is currently in an intensive therapy program. He receives over 35 hours of intensive therapy a week. He is supposed to start kindergarten this year but because I do not feel he is at a place to be successful in the classroom I have decided to not place him in the school system. Everson is unable to go into the community successfully without having outbursts, being physical with others, getting overwhelmed and frustrated, etc. He still is not potty trained and his communication is so limited that he gets frustrated and can be aggressive. I fear that Everson's quality of life will always suffer because of his level of need.

Everson has two younger brothers who are twins. They are 2 years old and both of his brothers are ALSO diagnosed with autism.

To say that our family has challenges is the greatest understatement. Most days our life is so overwhelming I become paralyzed by all of the things I am challenged by. It is extremely difficult to be everything we need to be for these three boys.

My husband and I recently learned about stem cell therapy and we feel it could be a life altering procedure not only for Everson, but for our family.

Stem cell therapy is when they derive stem cells from either your cord blood, bone marrow or a donor and then inject them into the patient. We are going to try using the twins' cord blood we saved when they were born for Everson's procedure. I've heard of many children and adults that have seen positive impacts from these procedures. Everson has been tested for a gene mutation/chromosome mutation to see if his autism was inherited. He went through a series of tests all which came back negative. This indicates all of his chromosomes are normal and he does not have any gene mutations so he is considered "environmentally autistic", meaning something he has come in contact with has caused brain damage. Stem cell therapy injects healthy stem cells into the body. As they attach themselves to damaged areas and regrow, they will potentially heal Everson. Every child is different and every outcome is different but there are no negative side effects. His body will either take to the stem cells or it won’t. But for us, it’s a chance for a better life. This is not surgical. It is just a very small procedure that’s done intravenously as an outpatient.

If Everson was able to recover enough to do simple tasks and have a small amount of independence, it could literally change our lives forever. The chances of benefit far outweigh any risks of stem cell therapy and we are eager to try but we need financial support to make it happen. We have invested everything we have into therapy and staff and resources for him that we are unable to make this next step happen alone. The procedure is quoted at $9000. We would love to set that as our goal. Thank you for your time. ❤️
