Evelyn to World Disc Golf Champs

Donation protected

Hi,

My name is Carol Heath.  My daughter, Evelyn is just 11 years old and is currently the Australian Women's Junior Disc Golf Tour Champion.

Disc Golf is not well known or funded in Australia but it is one of our fastest growing sports.  Disc Golf is much like traditional ball golf, however instead of hitting a ball with a club, disc golfers throw a disc into a disc golf target.  The rules and etiquette are very similar with par on each hole played.

Evelyn has been playing disc golf since she was six and competing in tournaments since she was nine.  She has won numerous titles including the Victorian Disc Golf Open in 2016,  2017 and 2018, The Gold Coast Classic in 2016 and 2017, The SA Disc Golf Open in 2017 and 2018, and has been named the Australian junior girls tour champion for the past two years running.

Evelyn was one of just 12 girls worldwide in her age category to receive a first-round invitation to the 2018 Junior World Disc Golf Championships to be held in the US in July and is the only girl in her age category from outside the US to receive a first-round invitation.

She was also the recipient of an "Eagle Wings Disc Golf", Junior grant which will cover her entry fee to the junior worlds should she be able to attend.

A little assistance is required to help pay for travel and accommodation expenses for Evelyn.  She will be travelling with either her Mum or Dad.

Evelyn will need to be in the US for two weeks.  During that time she will be playing in smaller events leading up to the World Championships plus taking some time to acclimatise to the hot Kansas summer. The World Championships will be held in Emporia, Kansas from Sunday 8th July until Saturday 14th July 2018.

If Evelyn is able to raise funds to compete in the Junior Worlds in July, she will become the first junior girl to represent Australia at a Disc Golf World Championship event.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Evelyn has been busy fundraising locally with bake sales, Ebay sales of old toys and clothes and selling stickers but the short time frame leading up to the event would mean that Evelyn would need to bake and sell approximately 3000 brownies within the next couple of months!

Our local club, although small, is right behind Evelyn (having bought a large number of brownies already!) but doesn't have the resources to fund this challenge, which is why we're asking for extra help.

Any small amount woiuld be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you!

Carol and Evelyn
