11 year old girl suffering Leukemia

Hi Everyone,

Around this time last year, we found out that our 11-year-old cousin Eva living in Macedonia was diagnosed with Leukemia.

As with any child/person, this news was extremely hard to hear, especially knowing they live halfway across the world. Not being there to help and support our family along the way was the most difficult part.

Receiving that phone called changed everything, not only for us here in Australia but also for Eva who has to deal with this for the rest of her life. We can only hope that this is just a bad hurdle to get over and everything will back to normal again.

Unfortunately, this is not the case. After months of treatments with radiation and chemotherapy, we believed Eva was finally in remission. She slowly started to get back into her normal child's life by going back to school, playing with her friends and enjoying those precious childhood years. Our family here in Australia have regular phone calls, video chats, and text messages every week with Eva. As to her, she doesn't feel that there is anything wrong with her. She constantly tells us she feels fine and doesn't know why she has to be back in the hospital all the time.

All the medication she was taking did not make her feel good about her self; she just wants to continue life as every other child out there.

Anyone that has gone through this before will know the costs involved with treatment and medication making her progress to recovery even harder.

Last week we received another call advising that Eva was back in hospital as her white blood cells had almost qua tripled compared to her red blood cells.  We knew this was not good.

Eva now needs a bone marrow transplant. This heartbreaking disease cannot be cured at this stage in Macedonia. The country physically does not have the resources and has advised that her only option is to go to Germany for this procedure.

The hospital has advised this will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars which is why we have turned to the public to support in any possible way big or small.

Eva is the most caring, heartwarming person you will ever meet, and to us, she means the absolute world.
Majority of the family here are travelling to Macedonia to see her in a months time and can not bear the thought that she could possibly not be there waiting for us.

Any donation made will be thankful from the bottom our hearts.
