Help bring Linda home!

Hello Friends!
My name is Linda, I am a Galgo/Podenco mix from Spain and my new human mom would like to adopt me but we've run into a small road block!

You've never heard of a Galgo or Podenco? Well sadly we do not have a very happy history.  We are an ancient breed of hunting dog that was once bred by Spanish nobles.  Unfortunately today, we are being abused and tens and thousands of galgos and podencos are killed every year. We are bred for a very short hunting season and then killed, tortured or abandoned afterwards.

During the hunting season we are starved and only fed bread and water. It is believed that if we are starved we will hunt better. If we have pleased our masters and hunted well, we will be "rewarded" with a quick death. If however we have "shamed" them, we are tortured and left to die. I will leave out the horrible details but you can find a lot more information by searching on the internet.

We are a gentle, affectionate and loyal breed that just wants to be loved! We do not deserve this kind of treatment! No animal should!

My human found my profile on www.scoobymedina.org and it was love at first sight! However, the rescue can only send me as far as Montreal. My human is hoping she can raise enough funds to bring me from Montreal to Vancouver, BC. I hear such wonderful things about Vancouver, I would love to take long walks in the forests and swim in the ocean. My human tells me I will have a new big sister to play with and a wise older brother that will teach me new life lessons. 

We have until the end of October to raise enough money because airlines have restrictions on when pets can fly (due to cold temperatures).

Please help my human bring me home to her! Any little bit helps! I will be forever grateful! :)
