Ethan's Internship

I am the mom of a most amazing 16 year old Sophmore (Ethan). Ethan has had more struggles in his life than a lot of guys his age. He was born with a severe bleeding disorder (Hemophilia) and he has over come many obstacles with his health in that regard. He has also attended 14 schools from kindergarten until now due to our jobs moving us all over the country.. He chose to face these obstacles and allow them to make him stronger, because of this choice: he has become an outstanding person who is full of integrity and purpose.
Ethan has always had a dream of becoming an FBI agent. Since he was very young he would read Spy books and watch the news about our government and law enforcement. This was a dream that I thought could not be fufilled due to his severe bleeding disorder. However due to new treatments, this is now a dream that he CAN totally embrace! Ethan has been very involved in several leadership roles in our community and was recently selected as one of a few new recruits to the Gresham Police Department Cadet Program. He is currently in training to become a Police Officer Apprentice (Cadet).
This week we were very proud to recieve notice that one of Ethan's mentors has nominated him for a special program to take place this summer in Washington D.C. specifically for students who show promise in the field of law enforcement and CSI. The invitation notes that there have only been 8 students nominated from his school....EVER! As I'm sure you can imagine, this is an opportunity that we can not allow him to miss out on....this is where you come in!
The cost of the intensive program is obviously steep. However it includes workshops with top FBI profilers who have worked on high profile cases such as Charles Manson and Ted Bundy. It also allows the teens a chance to mentor with Superme Court lawyers as well as judges. They will learn all the details of our judicial system and be mentored by experts in this field.
In order to provide Ethan with this once in a life time opportunity in our Nation's Capital, we need some help! The amount we are trying to raise covers his tuition for the summer, room, board and travel expenses. We will be personally saving in order to support him in this endavor and I hope that there are others who can invest their prayers and possibly even a few dollars to help him fufill a life long dream. We need the first $500 by mid March so time is short~
This is a 16 year old who knows where he wants to go in life and understands the sacrifices it will take to get there. His #1 passion is to help people and make America a safe place to live. I think Ethan sums it up best when he told me recently "Mom, if no one steps up to enforce the law then our world will no longer be worth living in".
So if you would take a moment to think of Ethan, and remember there are teenagers who aren't just goofing off or getting into trouble...this teenager,and many others like him, are making an effort to step up and be the change they want to see in the world...
