Ethan's Tanzania Target

Hi, my name is Ethan Snow. I am a second year student studying Sport Development with Coaching at Sheffield Hallam University.

I am extremely lucky to be one of just seven students to have been fortunately selected via an interview process to spend my seven week university placement in Africa. This means come the first week of May 2019, myself and six peers will be embarking on a unique journey to the city of Arusha, found in Tanzania.

My Role in Africa!
I will be working with the Arusha Youth Development Organisation to lead sport-specific and multi-sport development sessions, sharing my knowledge and expertise with local partner organisations. I will assist these organisations in delivering workshops involved in school and community sports leadership and development.
This will include assisting with the planning and organisation of school-based and after-school sports activities as well as co-coaching and working with community groups and local leaders.
One aspect of the placement I am especially looking forward to is coaching young footballers in the East Africa Cup, where I will also help with tournament preparations.

My Fundraising!
I will be running the Sheffield Half Marathon (14th April 2019). This is going to be tough for me as long distance running has never been a strength of mine. I am setting myself a timed target of 2 hours and 15 minutes. In order to beat this time I will be training hard each week in the build up to the event. To make things more interesting, my flatmates have challenged me to run the race dressed as a banana.
I have also been challenged to shave my head at some point in the near future so keep an eye out for a peanut dressed as a banana running through Sheffield on April 14th.

The cost of this once in a lifetime opportunity is expected to be around the £2500 mark. As my work will be voluntary and the placement is self-funded, I am hoping to raise £1000 in order to help fund the costs of flights, accommodation, living expenses, insurance and vaccinations.

Any donation would be amazing and greatly appreciated.
I will also acknowledge any likes, comments and shares as incredible support.

Thank you for taking you time to read through my appeal!
