Etch Concert - 10/29/17 at the CWC

Donation protected
Etch will be a free public concert on October 29th, 2017 featuring music composed by Columbus native, Zach Koors. Etch is also a thirty minute piece of music that will be performed on the concert along with other music by Zach Koors.

A mixed instrumental ensemble was assembled for this concert comprising 18 Columbus artists who regularly perform with symphony orchestras and hold faculty positions in colleges of music around Central Ohio. Etch was then composed for the instrumentation of this unique and diverse group. Most pieces of music are written in their entirety first, and then a group of musicians is assembled to perform it. This piece, however, was written for the specific Columbus musicians that make up this mixed instrumental ensemble. Etch will be conducted by producer, film composer, and Ohio native Todd Maki.

Having these funds secured as soon as possible is important so that the venue can be guaranteed for the concert. 100% of all the funds raised will go directly to:

• The 18 professional musicians and conductor who will be dedicating their time to learn, rehearse, and share this music with the Columbus community.

• The venue - The Clintonville Woman's Club.

• A live professional recording that will be captured from the concert so that more people can hear this music, even if they couldn't attend the live performance.

As a composer, I write music so that people can hear it, relate to it, and be moved in a way that can only come from hearing live concert music. I think a lot about how each note I write will impact the listener. It will mean so much to me to have the opportunity for my music to be heard by the listeners of the performance and the recording, and I have done my very best to try and create music that will also mean a lot to the people who listen to it.

I am very grateful that you have taken the time to read about my project, and please consider giving even the smallest donation to help make it happen. If you'd like to hear a computer generated version of the first few minutes of Etch, click here. Your support will help this music come to life with talented live musicians on October 29th!

Concert program is as follows:

• Sway, for 2 alto saxophones (10 minutes)

• Via, for piano and percussion (10 minutes)

• Etch, for 18 musicians (30 minutes)
