Escanaba Pride Event

Hello, all! My name is Lizzy Lynch and I am here to raise money to host a pride event in my hometown, Escanaba, Michigan. I have never been able to attend a pride parade or any pride celebration and living here in the UP, there is still a major lack of visibility for the LGBTQ+ community. One night, I was thinking to myself, "why not just make a pride event happen here where it's most needed?" So that's exactly what I'm trying to do. My initial thought was to simply walk downtown with as many queer folk and allies that I could get together but after I asked my Facebook friends what they thought, the positive response was overwhelming! It became apparent that we have the support in our community for something bigger than just a walk to happen. A few people who offered their help met up with me to start the planning process and we came to one major conclusion: we can't do much if we don't have the funds and the support from you all. We have a lot of ideas in mind for what exactly this event will look like but we can't make any final decisions until we know how much money will be available, so this is where you come in. Any donations to our cause will be used for food, decorations, poster material, venue rental, and anything else we need to get this event off the ground. We've set the goal high in the hopes that we get more than we actually need because anything left over will be donated to The Trevor Project, a non-profit organization that aids in suicide prevention in the LGBTQ+ community around the country. Your support is vital to our success. I know that my queer siblings as well as our straight allies exist in our community so let's show this small town that we are here and we are not ashamed.
