Help Erin Battle Stage 4 Breast Cancer

Donation protected
It’s been a little over a year since Erin’s diagnosis of stage 3B triple-negative breast cancer, at the young age of 27.   She has endured many months of chemotherapy, a mastectomy, followed by more months of chemotherapy due to finding cancer in local lymph nodes while performing her mastectomy. Unfortunately, after taking all of these steps, the cancer from Erin’s breast has spread to distant lymph nodes in Erin’s neck and chest.

Erin is now Stage 4 Triple-Negative Metastatic Breast Cancer (TNMBC). This means she is treatable, but no longer curable.

However, we are choosing to look at this in the sense that there is not currently a way for Erin to be cured, but in the meantime while Erin is being treated, a cure is going to be discovered.  It could happen at any moment and maybe Erin's participation in a clinical trial will be the reason behind the discovery. Miracles can happen, and it's going to happen for Erin!

In all honesty, doing research on TNMBC is, unfortunately, discouraging and disturbingly lacking in information and data.  TNMBC is the most difficult breast cancer to treat and is the most unknown of all of the breast cancer subcategories. For some reason, doctors and researchers continue to struggle to understand TNMBC and how to be most successful at treating it.  Because of this, there is not a clear treatment path of what should be done for best results, but instead, trial options and suggestions.

As of right now Erin is back on chemotherapy.  She is receiving two different drugs in two-week cycles with a rest week in between.  She has completed a full cycle already and is on week 1 of the second cycle. She is continuing to hang in there although she has felt a lot of fatigue and some nausea.  The current plan is that in a few weeks Erin will drop to one chemotherapy drug that can be received in conjunction with radiation. She will undergo radiation for 6 weeks to treat the lymph nodes in her neck and chest.  Radiation will occur Monday through Friday for all 6 weeks, so Mom, Dad, and I will be taking turns on going to appointments with her throughout the week. Once radiation is finished, Erin will resume both chemotherapy drugs until she has completed a full 6 months as long as the cancer continues to respond to the treatment; however, doctors are unsure of how long that will be.  The cancer can become resistant to the chemotherapy drugs, so we are hopeful that this combination works.

So, I humbly ask for your help. If you’re able to donate, that is amazing, but we also ask for you to share Erin’s campaign. With enough shares on social media, we might be able to reach the attention of a celebrity or influencer who has the ability to help on a greater scale.

We appreciate all of the support we’ve received over the past year and thank you for your continued support, love, and prayers. Thank you!

Please share Erin’s story with friends and family and encourage loved ones to be diligent about their health, even at young ages.

If you would like to reach out to Erin, please do so in the comment section on this page.  I will make sure she receives everyone's messages.

Love,
Shannon
