Erin's Study Abroad in Egypt

When deciding to attend Manchester University, I knew that I would be introduced to wonderful people and incredible opportunities. Since coming here, I have experienced just that and I have learned more about who I am and what I want to do with my life than I have in my years prior. While working intently on academics and staying focused on my goal of working in Peace Corps and teaching in a different country, I have also been sure to stay aware of the importance of building my resume and gaining valuable experience outside of the classroom - that is why I’m asking for your help now!

Every January, Manchester offers students a chance to travel and study abroad for what we call “Jan-Term.” Last semester, a professor of mine introduced a trip to Egypt and suggested that I take it. During the trip, students will have the opportunity to earn credit for two classes: Language and Thought, as well as Ancient and Medieval Christianity. Not only will these classes fulfill core, minor, and major requirements for my studies, but they will also provide me with valuable experience that will serve me well in my future endeavors and goals of living and teaching in a different country.

I plan on working and saving over the summer to come up with as much money as possible for this trip, but any help that could be offered from friends and family would be greatly appreciated. I am sending prayers for financial blessing and I pray that God will provide me with all that I need to go on such a wonderful adventure. Every penny counts, so anything that can be offered would be more than appreciated! I know that I will have more than enough support from the people around me, and I am thankful for all forms of generosity I am able to receive!
