Erik Cook Kidney Fund

Dear Family and friends,
Pictured is a son, father of three beautiful girls, brother, friend, and my dear dear husband. Erik was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the tender age of 14. By the time he turned 27, diabetes push him into kidney failure, in which he had to endure dialysis until the dialysis stopped working. During which time, I his wife, Michaéla, decided that I would donate my kidney. This was a total leap of faith, being I did not know my blood type. All I knew, was to ask God to make me a match. That request was honored! I gave him my kidney and he was dialysis and high blood pressure free for 8 years!! Later, in 2013, Erik was blessed with a pancreas, but unfortunately, that was short lived because an infection developed with caused multiple surgeries and the removal of that pancreas. 2015 Erik was given another chance at a diabetic free life, when he received another pancreas. This one worked like a charm! No insulin, no low or high blood sugars, only a clean bill of health!
Unfortunately, due to the rejection of both, the kidney and the pancreas, Erik has loss the function of both organs. We are on the campaign now for only a kidney. This is a very devastating blow to Erik, our family, and all those that love him. In preparation of receiving a kidney transplant, funds will be needed during the recovering process to maintain appointments, medications, and hospital stays. Please be apart, share and encourage someone to donate to this fund.
Finally, Erik will have to be listed on the Kidney Transplant list again. Once the listing is official, potential donors will then be accepted and processed for screening. We will give you that information as soon as it is available to us.
