Eric's SMK Championship Fund

I made this Go-Fund-Me for my fiance, Eric, so this story will be from his point-of-view:
"I remember in'92 when Super Mario Kart first came out and I got a copy. I was never really that good at it, and I actually put it down for over a decade.
But in 2009, my good friend Matt and I played a round of SMK (it may have been on the Gamecube or Wii, not entirely sure) and I was pretty overwhelmed by the feel of nostalgia I got while playing. It was much more fun than I remembered, so we started regularly playing Grand Prix at least once a week.
After years of playing, we discover that there were many others like us, who still played this now-vintage game at an extremely high level that we didn't think was possible before.
I'm now in the top 5 in the US on SMK Time Trials, and ranked #22 in the world. Through the SMK community, I've met many great people, and look forward to meeting these guys in real life.
Many of these players have been an inspiration to me these last few years especially, and it would mean a lot to be able to attend the 2017 SMK World Championship in France.
It's the game's 25th anniversary, so there are extra special festivities planned for the Championship this year.
I had planned on going the past 2 years, but recently had a son, and all of our extra money goes to diapers and food (he has a special diet due to Celiac's). Any time we get ahead, another expense comes up and we never are able to save enough to do any extracurricular activies.
This year, I still wasn't able to come up with the full amount I really need to be able to fly overseas, stay for the length of the Championship, & feed myself. And of course I need a Passport as well, which costs more than I thought.
There's only a short amount of time before the event, so any amount you're able to donate would help greatly.
I really hope I am able to represent the US in this upcoming tournament. It would be a dream come true."
This means so much to Eric, and I've tried to save up extra money so he is able to go, and we just don't make enough to be able to save for the full amount.
He hates to ask for help from anyone, so the fact he said I could make this Go-Fund-Me for him just goes to show how special this is to him.
