Eric's Excursion

Donation protected
This campaign has been created to help ease the burden of costs needed as Eric begins this excursion in beating leukemia. When these things happen, everyone wants to know how they can help. This is a major way we can all come together to help this precious family. Please give what you can and share this to spread the word, but above all please keep Eric and his family in your prayers.
This is a wonderful God loving family and needs to focus on Eric's care, and not be so worried about the financial aspect of fighting this terrible disease. Among other things that are going to be needed, there is an immediate need for a few things. He has several fractured vertebra and is going to need a new bed that will provided support and comfort so he can get the rest he needs.  They will also need a bunch of home medical supplies. Dwayne and Kim are both going to have to take time off of work to take him to treatment, that will at times be several trips a week. That means lots of gas and eating on the run.
All funds raised in this campaign will go directly to Eric's father Dwayne.

This is a post from his family:
Understandably I am sure you could imagine that our family is still in shock and to say we feel as if we have been punched in the stomach would still be an understatement. Eric had been having some lower back pain that just wouldn’t go away. We took him to Dr. Last Wednesday where they found 2 compressed vertebrae fractures and referred us to orthopedic when orthopedic read scans Friday they referred us to a hematologist which we couldn’t get an appt with until Thursday ( tomorrow) at 1:00. They said if his pain worsened to take him to ER. Monday he could barely walk so we took him to Scottish rite ER where we were shocked and blown away by the news that our baby has leukemia. Not anything what we were expecting to hear. The bad cells had built up around those bones to the point of crushing them. ( and it’s now 7 compressed fractures of the vertebrae ) It still seems so unreal. He has the ALL type which is most common in children under 10. He is a higher risk because of his age (15). Today they did surgery where they put his port in. He also had a bone marrow biopsy, and spinal tap done at the same time. They administered first dose of chemo during spinal tap because leukemia cells tend to hide in the spine. We were told today of what to expect for his first month of treatment and what his treatment plan will look like for years to come. We know for a fact we will be here through Christmas and maybe longer depending on how his body reacts to the chemo and all. He has a long road ahead of him and this has hit our family in a way that is unimaginable and at a time that just doesn’t feel right. Which no time would I suppose. We would appreciate your prayers for our sweet Eric and his recovery to beating this disease. Tomorrow begins day 1 in this fight to beat cancer. We are holding onto our Faith and believing God to be with Eric and us as we fight this together as a family.
