Help Erich Fight Leukemia

Donation protected
On December 22, 2015  our family received the devastating news that our 14 month old baby boy was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

ALL is a fast-growing cancer of a type of white blood cells called lymphocytes that crowds out bone marrow, preventing it from making the normal red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets that your body needs. This is a horrible cancer of the blood, a disease no child should ever endure.

Our family received this horrible news, three days before Christmas and after welcoming their second son, Nicholas who was a month old at the time. What should have been a special time for the new family of four quickly turned into a nightmare.

He was diagnosed with ALL after being sick for over month with ear infections, colds and finally a pneumonia. He went from an energetic little boy full of life and laughter, to a very sick and lethargic child. Prior to getting sick he  was always smiling and happy, his nickname was Mr. Smiles. Concerned his symptoms were getting worse, his pediatrician did a simple blood test and received abnormally low blood counts. The evening of December 21, 2015 he was immediately sent to the Hospital Emergency Room for further testing. The doctors admitted him to thr hospital he was placed on an IV of fluids and antibiotics. The following day the oncologists  gave the family the heartbreaking news that he had ALL and would require treatment immediately.

He went in for surgery to have a portocath installed ( a catheter into his major artery to receive treatments) and receive his first round of chemotherapy. A bone aspiration was taken to analyze the extent of the Leukemia blasts. His type of ALL will require intensive treatments over 3 1/2 years.

He spent 10 days at Hospitsl recovering from his colds and the pneumonia. He  received several rounds of chemotherapy and finally went home on December 31, 2015. He is an outpatient at a local clinic receiving life saving chemotherapy.

Any money received will assist the family for the cost of his medical treatments over the next 3 1/2 years, and alleviate some of the financial burden.  Any excess monies not used will be donated to HUMC's Tomorrow's Children Fund.

Please keep our family and our little boy in your prayers.
