On Saturday morning, April 28, 2018, Mr. Eric L. Dalton, one of the greatest men that I and countless others have ever had the privilege of knowing, tragically lost his life when his motorcycle collided with an SUV that suddenly and unexpectedly entered the highway.

Eric was only 46 years old and just like any other day, he was simply on his way to work that morning. The driver of the SUV, who survived but with serious injuries, was leaving the cemetery where he had very recently laid his father to rest.

This has been a horrific tragedy for all parties involved but especially for Eric's devoted wife and best friend, Mrs. Danielle Odom Dalton, and his beautiful, sweet daughter, Erica, who is only 7 years old.

We would like to ease the financial burden that has come from losing this amazing man so suddenly. Although insurance will cover Eric’s funeral and burial expenses, there are unexpected legal costs in securing Miss Erica, as Eric had primary physical and legal custody of her which is an urgent matter that cannot wait until other funding can become available.  Eric adored his daughter and would only want for her to continue with the life he was building for her.  Any donation, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated.

Please keep both families that were involved in this tragic event in your thoughts and prayers. This has been truly devastating for all.

Although broken, we thank you with all of our hearts.

Yesterday, May 3, 2018, we celebrated the life of Eric Dalton, a wonderful man that was taken from this life entirely too soon. The countless number of people that came to support one another and pay their respects, made it very clear that there was much to be celebrated. Eric touched the lives of everyone he'd ever met and this world will never be the same without him.

The processional to the cemetery was led by a large group of his biker family and it was a beautiful tribute to a man that lost his life doing what he loved; being on two wheels.

After the graveside service, as I went to hug Danielle, I saw something different in her eyes and when she choked out the words "we won temporary custody", I instantly realized that what I saw was a veil of contentment on the surface of the sorrow. It was beautiful to witness the tears of pain and tears of joy both running down her cheeks at once.

It turns out that she had gotten the call about the emergency custody while in the car on the way to the cemetery. As she told me this, chills ran through my body, and in that very moment, everything felt right. It made perfect sense that Eric, being the amazing father that he was, would not accept his final resting place until he knew his daughter was safe in the arms of those that love her. Those that are dedicated to giving Erica the best life possible. And those that will keep her father's memory alive so that she will always know what an extraordinary man he was and just how much he adored his beautiful little girl.

Of course, this is only the beginning of a long legal process but it is a necessary process for the well-being of Erica. I believe it is crucial that she remain with Danielle and continue, as much as possible, with the only life she's ever known and with the woman that has never and will never turn her back on her. Erica deserves the world. Erica deserves Danielle.

Thank you to everyone that has contributed to this campaign and more importantly, thank you for the emotional support you have shown this beautiful family during this deeply devasting time.

I ask that you please keep the Dalton family in your thoughts and prayers and that you continue to share this campaign and give if you can. No about is too small to help make this a huge success.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone that has shown your support for Danielle, Erica and the entire Dalton family during this deeply devastating time. Your thoughts, prayers, calls, messages and visits mean so much to each and every one of them. And while no amount of money can heal their broken hearts, it does help to ease some of the stress and worry that naturally occurs at a time like this.

SIDENOTE:
This morning I was made aware that there may be others who are also raising funds for Eric's final expenses. I had also assumed that Danielle would, at the very least, be responsible for the opening & closing of the grave-site . Knowing she will not have to pay those expenses upfront, I have corrected my initial post. These funds will be used for unexpected bills and legal fees needed to secure Erica's future and well-being so that she may continue with the life that her loving & dedicated father was building for her.

Lastly, I would like everyone to know that Danielle is aware of this campaign and has full access & control of all donations.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your continued support for this beautiful family.
