Erase School Lunch Debt

I was recently inspired by an article I read by Jeff Lew and his campaign to end Seattle Public School district's school lunch debt. You may have seen his story on King 5 News:

Many children depend on a nutritious lunch to help them through their school day and for some it may be the only meal they get! If a child does not have money in their lunch account, a negative balance is entered into the system and the families will receive a notification from the school district.

Unfortunately, when kids have a negative balance, they are not offered the option of a fully nourishing meal. It’s important to remember that everyone struggles economically at times (we have!!) and so decided that I’d like to raise the money to pay off school lunch debts starting with my sons elementary school in Royal Oak!

As of May 19, 2017, the total school lunch debt at my child's school is $176.85.

My first goal is to have that paid off. The second goal is to help pay off the school lunch debt for the district and then… the sky is the limit!! Can we take care of Oakland county’s entire lunch debt?!!

NO child should be without a healthy lunch to fuel their brains to enhance their educations. I’m reaching out to our community and hopefully beyond to help us complete this mission!
