Equinox Comics: The Next Level

$190 of $100k goal

Aaron Ballinger  GLENPOOL, OK
My name is Aaron Ballinger, CEO and Co-Founder of Equinox Comics and I've been reading comics since the late 70's.  In the 80's, I couldn't decide if I should grow up and be a Rock Star or a Comic Book Creator, but I knew I wanted to be one of them.  Years later, after the band broke up, I formed the Equinox Comics, LLC and started my search for local talent.  I found a lot of them.  After bootstrapping for just under 5 years and building an awesome fan base, I believe it's time I made Equinox Comics a full time career, not just for me, but the members of Team Equinox. I know this is a lot to read, but please take the time and seriously consider being a part of history in the making.

Equinox consists of about 20 talented and creative people whom really should be doing what they love for a living.  I want to help make that a reality.  Many of us have "Day Job's" or are in College, so what precious little time we do have, we use to write, draw, color, edit, promote, etc.  If we could dedicate our "work hours" for story development and production, we could share all of these great ideas with our fans by putting out titles on a consistent basis.  We want adults AND kids to join us on this fantastic journey. To grow with us.

The cost of materials, which includes and not limited to; pencils, paper, software and computers, can be a financial drain on many of us. Other costs include the book printing, marketing/promotions and especially convention booth costs, including hotel, food and travel.  Conventions are a vital component to comic book creators.  The stronger the presence, the better, so we need to create an eye-catching visual to attract people to our booth.  Not only can fans buy our books and other merchandise, but quality original art and amazingly priced commission art.  Keeping the prices affordable has brought back numerous fans at nearly every convention we've attended.

With the money you donate, we will be able to increase production and market our books, thus allowing us to submit titles to the world’s largest comic distributer, Diamond.  Diamond Distributors will help us get our books into comic book shops all over the world.  Nearly every major comic publisher uses them.  To be competitive, we need to use them, too.  When our books are distributed on this scale, we know we will make a huge impact in the comic book universe.

So...This is where you and your financial contributions will be a game changer:
        >Compensating the talent for their hard work
        >Purchase the creative tools for best quality output
        >The ability to print more titles consistently
        >Marketing, promotions and contests

Funding those key areas by all of YOU will remove the financial burden until Equinox starts turning a profit.  When this happens, we'll begin the steps toward an actual office space and much, MUCH more.

Again, this is not just for me, but for ALL the members of Team Equinox and our families. To go to your job that you love with a legitimate passion only improves the product you’re paid to create. When that happens, the customers are rewarded, as well. I've seen some very successful GoFundMe Campaigns and I've seen some fail. Let's make this campaign the most successful one ever. The cool thing is you can say, "I was a part of it". That's something you can share forever.

See, I told you there was a lot to read.  But it's because I believe we have something special with Equinox Comics.

From deep within my heart, I truly thank you for whatever you contribute, big or small.  It matters more than you know.  I may never get the opportunity to thank you face-to-face or even learn your name, but just know, I'm humbled by your kindness.  You've made a difference in a HUGE way.

Aaron.

OK. It's been a while since I posted. The day job still has its tentacles around my throat.

We have a few conventions coming up. Tokyo in Tulsa, SoonerCon, SoCon, WichiCon and a few in the works.

Remember, your donations help us with the cost of travel and fees.

Please share with everyone you know and maybe they will consider donating, too!

Thanks! We love our Equifans!!

A great thing for Equinox Comics is we're getting many requests to attend conventions and other events. However, some fall on the same weekend, so we either have to choose which ones to attend or try to send team members to each one. We've even been invited to the Black Age of Comics in Detroit. Very awesome, but it is a cost. If we go we will probably send 2 of us and will need to fly. It's great to be wanted. Your donations will help us make a trip like that.

What's up, Equifans!?! Second day of Spring! Just wanted update you all. Your donations were deposited into the Equinox Comics bank account, so THANK YOU!!! I'll be using some of it to pay on the Equinox credit card bill and some of it will help pay for booths at a couple of events coming up. We have a Team Equinox meeting in about 2 weeks where I plan to assess the creative needs for the team to be successful. Depending on the amount of donations we receive, I want to reward them financially for their hard work and dedication. Please share with others our gofundme efforts so that they will consider donating as well.

A reminder; I am not taking any funds for myself. This goes towards the efforts of the company and the team. I have a day job, but our goal is to make Equinox our day job, so until then, I won't take money. I intentionally set our gofundme goal at $100,000 because that's a good number for working capital at this time. Eventually, Equinox will need to operate from a budget in the millions. That doesn't scare me, because I know this company is worth it. I know we will produce quality comics and merchandise. We have to. So the $100K is not over the top, nor unreachable. Again, thanks. With the most humble of hearts, we truly appreciate you traveling alongside us in our journey.
