Equal Playing Field Football

Donation protected
Equal Playing Field's (EPF) Altitude Football Projectwill not only deliver the Guinness World Record highest elevation football (soccer) game in history– played by a combination of worldwide female pros, competitive enthusiasts and football charity graduates, on top of Mount Kilimanjaro in June 2017. We are also going to use the momentum of the game to deliver football training clinics in up to 17* countries on 5 continents - directly reaching 1500 girls and women.  We are going to implement these clinics through EXISTING local clubs, teams, organisations, charities and NGOs that focus on sports development, education, health and empowerment for women.

OUR GOAL is to support local organisations that contribute to developing women’s football for all the reasons that sports are great for society and especially critical for women. But further, we care about sustainability, supporting structures that provide a long-term ability to play. Statistically, once teenagers the majority of girls give up on sports, or are told they can never play again. We must do better to challenge this norm and every other fixed inequality girls and women face in sport and in life.

Many of the charities are run by our players in their home countries – such as inner-city outreach programmes to keep girls out of gangs in South America, or working directly with education bodies to empower women through football and keep them in school, and peacebuilding through sport projects in war-torn and post-conflict countries. Others we have identified through our partnerships with the international sport and development organisations – whose own programming reaches tens of thousands of girls and women across the world.

In the Altitude Football clinics young girls get to work with adult teams and social clubs with competitive ones, which gives both groups not only role models but a vision of progression as a player and reinforcement of being a lifelong athlete. Meanwhile female beneficiaries of normal health, education and empowerment programmes are connected to the transformative potential of sport and in the process given a new community for support and inspiration to challenge the systems that hold them back. And this potential is elevated by linking local charities with regional and international networks across the entire sports, development and equality spectrum – because these are the bodies and ties that build up the resilience and drive for creating sustainable change.

And sustainable, positive change is exactly what we are after.

ALL FUNDING raised here will be used to deliver the global clinics in: Afghanistan, Indonesia, Mexico, Argentina, the US, the UK, Tanzania, South Africa, Zambia, Jordan, the UAE, Nepal, Thailand, China, Saudi Arabia, Colombia and Italy, and tell the story of our partner organisations and their fight for an equal playing field.

Equal Playing Field's Altitude Football Project is more than anything about love of the game.Having the opportunity to play, as long as you want to, at as high a level as you are capable of, no matter who or where you are. Football and sports have long been a means to transcend limitations and prejudice, so this is our way to challenge the inequality and to inspire more women to do the same.

Opportunity, equality, and respect. Nothing more, nothing less.
